Travelodge Gateshead Whitemare Pool

Cheap and cheerful but I use this hotel for work every Friday and sunday and the service is outstanding. All staff are friendly and fun with great conversation and always happy to help with anything you need. Eg irons and boards. Free top ups too if you run out. Clean rooms and comfy beds.

Stayed here for 2 nights as we were just visiting Newcastle for the bank holiday weekend basically to get drunk! This hotel was exactly what we needed. We paid £80 for the 2 nights and we got what we paid. The room was very clean and tidy. First thing we did was check the bed sheets as lots of reviews were cursing about this but ours was perfectly clean. The room was very spacious, almost felt a bit empty and could have fit another double bed in next to the one already there. The shower was pretty standard but did the job. There are no amenities so do bring your own shower gel etc. The receptionist Mark was super friendly and welcoming. It does say on their website that they’re only 10 minutes from the city centre and have local taxis who charge a flat rate of £10 a way. This is outdated as Mark told us. It’s not far, but is a 20 minute drive to the city centre and Uber cost between £13 - £17 each way. Would definitely stay here again, couldn’t fault it. Definitely give it a 3 star and not a 1 star.

Great value for a short stay compared to prices almost £100.00 more for travel lodges close to centre of Newcastle. Rooms were a little basic, and feeling a little worn/tired, but we were expecting that. Everything worked though, in bathroom, water hot, pressure good and cleaned well. What was really good however was the staff who were really lovely and welcoming especially the lady we spoke to on the way up and met at check in late Friday night/early Sat morning on the 12th/13th Sept 2025. Thank you. The attached Subway and Greggs were useful as was the shop in the adjacent services/petrol filling station.

Great staff I mean to all staff receptionists & cleaners to a fabulous job

A very tired hard used place. Tatty in places questionable smelling corridors, lots of lone male residents lingering around the entrance smoking or vaping. Not a place i felt safe as a solo female user. Staff ok but only one lady present on duty when i arrived. Very comfy bed, nice crisp clean sheets, rubbish shower over bath(low water pressure). No sanitary napkin disposal bins or bags to discretely dispose of your hygiene product. No local shop nearby as garage next door in ruins at present? Having refurb just now. Burger king is only near food source near or accessible on foot.

Love staying at travelodges first time here with my husband clean comfortable rooms quiet staff very helpful and friendly plenty of pillows or towels fan kettle tea coffee there's a vending machine on site shell garage for odds and sods and there's a subway burger king greggs next door if your feeling peckish would definitely come back here again

Needed a quick night due to plans moving up earlier the next day. We arrived around 11pm and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Room was clean and spacious, beds are typical travelloge quality but it's comfortable enough. Just outside is a shell, greggs, subway and burger king so can quickly grab breakfast on your way out.
